Horizon Angling Club for the Disabled

General Rules – By-Law(s)

  1. Members should carry their own Environment Agency Rod Licence and club HorizonDAC membership card at all times when fishing
  2. Members should observe the rules of other clubs/organizations when fishing their waters.
  3. As a safety measure, all club members should consider their own health and well-being or limitations when assisting other Club Members.
  4. No litter or cigarette ends to be left. Any litter left in a swim should be taken home whether it is your litter or someone else’s.
  5. Unhooking mats and assembled carp-safe landing nets to be used at all times with no fish coming into contact with the ground.
  6. No, keep nets to be used at any Club water.
  7. Running rigs are only to be used. Fix leads/feeders are NOT permitted.
  8. Barbless hooks only “Gripz hooks” are also allowed.
  9. Club Bailiff is entitled to inspect any angler’s rig and bait at his discretion at any time.
  10. Any baited rod and line must not be left unattended. If a member leaves a swim the rod must be removed
    from the water and the hook secured to a rod ring.
  11. The club allows a member’s helper to generally assist in landing, unhooking, and returning fish caught by a member including during matches/meetings.
  12. Any fish caught, once weighed and photographed, are to be returned promptly to the same swim and any health issues must be reported to the bailiff as soon as possible.
  13. Any fish entered as a Specimen fish for trophy purposes must be weighed and witnessed by two club members immediately and the Match Secretary to be notified as soon as possible.
  14. Any breach of Club Rules and Match Rules may result in Disciplinary Action by the Committee and may result in withdrawal of an individual member’s Club Membership.
  15. Horizon is a friendly club. Any misbehavior at the bank or at the clubhouse will not be tolerated. Be aware and respectful of other anglers at all times when fishing.
  16. Exchange Books for other waters issued by the Committee to members MUST be returned to the Committee the same day without exception as other members may wish to use them unless informed otherwise.

 

Additional Rules for Havant Lake to be read with General Rules

[ms_list_item]Members are not to walk or place any angling gear on top of any metal covers as they are Alarmed[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Wheelchair/scooter users are NOT to fish alone and must be accompanied by another club member at all times. (Havant Lakes requirement)[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Members may only fish within the agreed times. Weekdays from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from (dawn) 7:00 am to 7:30 pm[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Night fishing is not permitted[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]No nut baits of any kind[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]No more than 1 kg of ground bait[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Maximum of 2 rods, space permitting. One rod only at match/meetings[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Immediately report anything unusual or suspicious to Security or Club Bailiff/Committee member[/ms_list_item]

Additional rules for Stanbridge Farm to be read with General Rules

Additional associate member rules

[ms_list_item]Associate Members are to endeavour to attend work parties to maintain Club waters and keep swims accessible for use[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]No publicity regarding Havant Lake and Stanbridge Farm to non-members of the club under any circumstances[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Associate members/helpers may use Exchange books when helping a disabled member or in their own right depending on book availability[/ms_list_item]
[/ms_list]

Horizon coarse fishing match/meeting rules

[ms_list_item]All anglers to use appropriate landing net and approved unhooking mat[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Only one rod and hook to be used at any one time in matches. Any angler seen to be using more than one rod at a time may be disqualified from that match[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]All species of fish to count in matches[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]At match/meetings, wheelchair/scooter users and those with severe mobility issues will be given choice of swims before more able members draw/select their swims[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Disabled anglers to be given assistance in landing and unhooking fish where requested[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Associate members (fishing) helping a disabled member may fish from the same swim[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Anglers must fish from their allocated swim only. No stalking in matches[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Only fish caught between agreed start and finish times to count[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Fish to be weighed, witnessed and reported to Match Steward and then returned[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Fish too small to weigh to be witnessed and awarded a nominal 2 oz. weight[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Points awarded top weight = 10 pts, 2nd place = 5pts, 3rd place = 2pts[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Each member attending and fishing will be awarded 2 pts[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]In cases of severe weather or other circumstances which may lead to cancellation of a match, members are advised to check with the Match Secretary or appointed Steward before leaving home[/ms_list_item]

Rules to be followed on the boat

[ms_list_item]No Standing whilst Boat is in motion, stay seated until told safe to move around[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Be respectful to your fellow Anglers at all times[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Location for fishing is Skippers decision only[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]A Nominated member to Liaise with Skipper Chosen beforehand, no other member shall misdirect the skipper in his duties[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Life Jackets are on board if required, and on discretion of Skipper[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Be prompt and on time as tide waits for no one[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]No casting by Members at all for the safety of other’s[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]All undersized fish must be returned to water along with all Ray’s and smooth hounds after photographs have been taken[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]No Selling of Fish caught at quay or Market as its Illegal[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Disregard to follow Club rules/Byelaws or direction of Clubs representative will result in loss of access to future boat trips[/ms_list_item]
[ms_list_item]Cost of any boat trip must be paid to the sea trip organizer who acts on behalf of the treasurer of the Club[/ms_list_item]
